What is Dulux doing to help?

Dulux is committed to sustainable development and reducing the environmental impact of our products throughout the life cycle of their manufacture and use. We have focussed on 5 key areas where we can make genuine environmental and sustainable improvements across our business.

Products and services

Our aim is to reduce the ecological footprint of our products without compromising on performance and offering innovative products that contribute positively to the environment and personal well-being.

We are currently working hard on reducing the VOC* levels across a wide range of products some of which have already been reduced.

We offer high-performance water-based alternatives to solvent-based paints in all popular paint finishes. We have also sourced local packaging manufacturers in order to reduce our impact on the environment.

People and community

Our aim is to endeavour to continue and further develop our involvement in the local community, with particular emphasis in the area of community based education programmes.

Dulux Paints Ireland will encourage and give support to employees who wish to be active in local communities. To encourage employees' involvement, the company is involved in a number of programmes at company wide level and involving a cross section of employees. One example is the "Skills @ Work Programme" where the aim of the programme is to give students an insight into the world of work and work ethics and an opportunity to learn about the partnering company's business.

Energy

Our aim is to improve the energy efficiency of our operations and work with key suppliers and customers to minimise energy consumption.

We have reduced the energy used per tonne of production by 20% since 2005

Transport

Our aim is to significantly reduce the impact on the environment associated with the movement of our products and our employees.

We are working very closely with our third party logistics providers in rolling out new aerodynamic delivery trucks which cut fuel consumption by 10%

All company owned vehicles will have switched to Diesel by the end of 2011.

Waste

Our aim is to eliminate waste and emissions from our operations and reduce the impact of our products and our packaging for our customers.

We have reduced our water usage by 20% per tonne of production since 2005

We have reduced the amount of waste to landfill by 30% since 2005
