The forgotten room

by The Dulux Team

Speaking to a family friend, I was recently reminded of the power of colour paint, and I wanted to share her story.

The forgotten room

"She had recently started working from home and was beginning to get a bit of cabin fever! Seeing the same walls day in day out, she was also a bit fed up of the way her home looked."

'Being at home all day every day, I realised that it had been a couple of years since any of the rooms were painted, and probably about 3 years since the dining room had been done up. We rarely use the dining room - mostly just at Christmas - and it had start to become a bit of a dumping ground for things that didn't have an obvious home. There were board games, a vacuum cleaner and school text books in there. Seeing it every day started to drive me a bit mad. Anyway, one day I'd had enough. I started clearing out the room and gave it a good clean. Once I'd started, I couldn't stop, and I went out to buy some paint to give the room a fresh look. In the shop, I was inspired by all of the lovely colours and I bought a colour called Renaissance in the Moda range. It completely transformed the room. It really is just beautiful now. What's more, the whole family love it and we love spending time in there. It's like we've discovered a new room in our home. We've actually started eating dinner around the table as a family again. It's lovely to hear about everyone's day and not stare at the TV while we eat each night.'

What a great story. It's incredible to think that such a small change can make such a difference to our surroundings. Why not be inspired and transform one of your 'forgotten rooms' with a splash of colour? Take a look at some of our images for inspiration!

If you've got a story to share, we'd love to hear from you. Why not visit our facebook page and tell us about the difference colour has made to your surroundings.
