Paint By Numbers

Tailor a top trend to suit your style for a dedicated office space

This season’s must-try trend is geometric shapes. But fear not, we’ve got a handy cheat-sheet (below) to help you master it in minutes. It’s a great way to create strong focal points and dedicated spaces in multi-functional rooms, and we’ve combined sharp angles and pastel palettes for our own take on the technique. The rules are simple – there are no rules! Be playful; embrace asymmetry; and don’t be afraid to experiment. Follow the six simple steps below to conjure up your own stylish office space in a flash.

You'll need:

  • Paints from colour palette (see below, left)
  • Masking tape
  • String, chalk and pin
  • Tape measure and pencil
  • Mixing stick
  • Drop cloths or plastic sheeting (for covering furniture and fixtures)
  • Step ladder (for getting at those hard-to-reach spots)
  • 2” paintbrush
  • Roller and tray

1. With Mint Macaroon, paint around light fittings and skylights on the ceiling with a 2” brush, then fill in with a roller.

2. Brush Pure Brilliant White along the wall where it meets the ceiling. Fill in the rest of the wall with a roller; allow to dry

3. Measure and mask off the area of wall that will frame your office zone, then use coloured chalk to roughly mark your shapes.

4. Run the chalk along the string. Tape the string at each end of a shape and ping it against the wall to create a straight line. It really works!

5. Mask off the shapes, one at a time, before filling them in with paints from our colour palette (below), using a small roller or brush. Be sure to peel away masking tape carefully!

6. Clean and lightly sand the skirting boards. Mask off the wall, then apply two coats of Urban Obsession. Step back and admire your hard work.
