Kids Makeover Magic

If you’ve a little one and giving their bedroom some much needed TLC has been on the wish list for a while then this is a video you’ve got to see!

We got together with the good people over at Herfamily.ie to give one family the chance to win a makeover for their kids room. Lucky Louise from Rathfarnham was first out of the hat and we were tasked with creating a new bedroom for her son Chulain, who had been subjected to sharing a room with his big brother for years!

Kids rooms are often small spaces but this clip shows how much can be done, and in just one day…. Check it out!

If you’re feeling inspired here’s some top tips!

1. There’s no time like the present: So get going! Don’t feel like this is the job of a life time, a weekend or even better a Bank Holiday weekend is more than enough time to pull this off.

2. Be Bright & Bold: Here’s your opportunity to be brave with colours. A Kids room should be fun & stimulating. The Dulux MySpace range is a collection of colours specially selected for use in Kids Rooms. The soft sheen finish is also wipeable, for the inevitable scuffs and scratches.

3. Size doesn’t matter! If you’re worried the room is too small for strong colours, don’t panic. Try blending it with a white or cream like we did in the makeover. Using an Ombre Effect is a great solution and a very cool way to do it.

4. Add some theatre: You might look and the mural created in our makeover and think wow, but I’ll never get that! Professional wall art is amazing but you can still create great theatre with stencils from the likes of IKEA, or shop online for a great range of decals If you’re in touch with your artistic side, you can even try some free-hand art yourself, check out our How To for some helpful hints
